Titans Code of Conducts (COD)

Parents COD

As a parent of the Red Deer T & F Club, I understand and agree to abide by the following:

  • I will encourage my child to compete by the rules and to respectfully follow them that are outlined by  AA, AC, & IAAF.
  • I will never ridicule or yell at my child for not competing well at a competition, and I will applaud good performances by both my child’s club members and their opponents.
  • I will be accepting and patient with my child’s individual stages of development and the way in which he/she learns.
  • If my child is in Junior Development, I will encourage them to follow the Junior Development philosophy.
  • I will never question the officials’ judgment or honesty in public. I will express my concerns to my child’s coach who will then deal with the situation appropriately.
  • I will support all efforts to remove verbal, emotional, and physical abuse from children’s sporting activities.
  • I will respect and show appreciation for the trained volunteer coaches who give their time to provide sport activities for my child, understanding that I have a responsibility to be part of my child’s development.

I will directly communicate my encouragement and concerns, should any arise, using the following guidelines:

  1. I will approach my child’s coach after a 24 hr period via a email and NOT at a practice or during a competition to discuss the concern or arrange a convenient time to talk.
  2. If the issue is not resolved, the coach and I will contact the head coach or club president.
  3. I realize that talking and complaining about the situation to anyone else will magnify the problem, rather than resolve it.

These are the steps that will be followed:

  1. Step one is a verbal warning. Conduct was out of order and we keep a copy of the verbal warning.
  2. Step two is a written warning. We keep a copy and the athlete gets a copy. It outlines what the problem is and what is going to be done about it. At this point, a suspension from attending practices or revoking permission to attend the next meet may be implemented.
  3. Step three is Suspension.  At this point a “contract” will be drawn up and expected to be followed or the athlete may be asked not to return to practice with the team.
